Kathy Welsh Smith


After a long career in collegiate campus ministry, I made the leap to working in the church in 2017. I most recently served as the Director of Discipleship at Central Presbyterian. I am now a candidate for Minister of Word and Sacrament and a recent graduate of United Seminary, Twin Cities. My spouse, Rob, works at Loyola University, and serves as Vice Moderator of Baltimore Presbytery. Together we are the parents of two adult children and the grandparents of the 3 (objectively!) cutest grandsons in the world.

My approach to ministry is to be connectional and relational. As a small church pastor, I will:

  • Connect deeply with congregants, in times of illness and grief and in ordinary life and work

  • Preach sermons that connect Scripture to our lives and circumstances today

  • Build and lead teams by consensus

  • Know our neighbors: those who share our building and those in the surrounding community (homes and businesses)
